How To Install: How To Cut A Plank Against The Wall?

How To Install Loose Lay Vinyl Planks: How To Cut A Plank Against The Wall?

In this video post we show you how to cut a plank against a straight wall, and all you need is planks and a Stanley knife.

Take your first plank and lay it against it all existing planks. Your second plank is the template plank. Lay it flush up against the skirting board and on the top of your first plank. This means now when you make a cut it will be on the same exact angle as the skirting board. Take your Stanley blade, cut through one, twice, and even a third time if necessary. Remove your template plank and replace it in the exact same position as your first plank. Knowing that you’ve cut through your first plank, nice and consistent it should snap very easily. Take your Stanley blade and make the remaining cut from the back. Now what we want to do is a thing called a “chamfer”. That is taking your Stanley blade, and cutting on a 45 degree angle to cut a fine slither off the plank. This is going to enable you to have a beautiful snug finish against your skirting boards. So when placing the plank it can fit in nice and tight. We hope this video has helped immensely when finishing loose lay vinyl planks up against your walls!
